An eFoil lifts you clear of the water on an electric motor and a hydrofoil wing — silent, and without needing waves or wind. At E-SURFER we have ridden every model we sell since 2017. This page tells you which board suits you, and which expensive detour you can skip.

For around 80 percent of our customers the Audi e-tron foil by Aerofoils is the right board: balanced handling, mature engineering, and a spare parts supply that will still work three years from now. The remaining 20 percent come from watersports and want to ride hard — other boards serve them better.
Because you will stop riding it after a few hours. The usual route — a big, forgiving beginner board first, the real one a year later — costs you twice and ends in a resale at a loss. Buy the carbon board you actually want, and fit an Aeroloop for the first few weeks.
The Aeroloop by Aerofoils (€599) is a buoyancy ring that mounts on your board. It gives you the stability of a far larger board on take-off and forgives exactly the mistakes that would otherwise put you in the water. Once you stand confidently and start to foil, you take it off — and carry on riding the same board, now at full performance.
That is the best of both worlds: the fast learning curve of a beginner board, without compromising on the board itself. We have taken enough customers down this route to recommend it with a clear conscience.
We carry deliberately few brands — the ones we have ridden ourselves and keep spare parts for.
Our best-selling brand, and a German development: Aerofoils builds the Audi e-tron foil in three versions — Performance and Adventure as all-rounders, plus the Competition for very sporty riders — alongside the HyperFly eFoil Scooter. The accessories work together, from the Aeroloop to wing sets, shims and spare propellers. Spare parts reach you quickly.
Lift Foils is the pioneer from Puerto Rico. The LIFT5 and LIFTX are the reference for ride feel and wing technology in waves. If you come from kiting, winging or surfing and want to foil properly, this is your brand.
Swedish manufacturer with high build standards. The Vinga is convincing on battery performance and finish, and sits at the upper end of the price range.
For Fliteboard, Waydoo and SiFly you will find accessories, spare parts and tuning components with us — propeller upgrades, shims, service kits. We do not carry complete boards from these brands. Years of experience and testing led us to that decision.
Four things that shape daily life with the board and rarely show up on a spec sheet:
Yes. We run test centers in Berlin, Bremen, at Lake Garda, in Barcelona, Sotogrande, Porto Heli and Dubai. You ride the boards yourself before you decide, with instruction from trainers who have been in this sport for years. The eFoil course costs between €249 and €299 and is credited against the purchase price.
Our most honest advice after eight years in the sport: nobody should buy an eFoil from a spec sheet. Ride two or three models and you will know within an hour which one is yours.
You are not sure? No problem, our buying guide for eSurfboards will explain the individual variants in detail. We start with the surfboard with motor overview and then go into detail in the eFoil comparison and the jetboard comparison.

No national licence is required to ride an eFoil in the UK — it comes down to local and operator rules. Harbour authorities and byelaws govern the coast; the Canal & River Trust requires a licence for all boats, the River Thames requires registration, and Scotland requires a Scottish Navigation Licence for motorboats. There's no national minimum age either — that's set locally.
In the UK you can ride an eFoil on many waters, because there's no eFoil-specific national ban — but the rules are local. Coastal use is governed by harbour authorities and byelaws; inland you usually need an operator licence (Canal & River Trust) or registration (River Thames), and Scotland has its own Scottish Navigation Licence. Always keep clear of swimming zones. Full overview: eFoils in the UK: rules, licences & where to ride.
